This basic HTML editor also acts as a browser so you can always make little fixes with out having to launch an editor. The high speed operation and easy keyboard accelerators make it IDEAL for building and manageing a web site. The HTML produced is clean, compact and works with ALL browsers. It will also open, edit, and close txt files. It temporarily adds the <HTML><BODY> etc... tags while editing but removes them (and all other tags) when the file is saved.
The AOLPress.com site has been closed and most copies removed from the web. Archive.org has a copy. So I have that here: /images/com/aolpress/aolp20_32.exe and I am making a never released newer version which supports PNG files available at /images/com/aolpress/aolp20a.zip until someone tells me not to.
Runs fine under Windows 10.
It WILL run under Windows 7 64 bit, but it crashes often. A better way to use it is to run it in Virtual XP mode. To run directly in Windows 7, you must copy the jg*4??.dll files from the windows/system32 folder of a prior install, into the folder where AOLPress is installed. These files are:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>dir jg*4??.dll /od Volume in drive C has no label. Volume Serial Number is 3C6A-4612 Directory of C:\WINDOWS\system32 96/11/18 14:31 109,568 JGFR400.DLL <-may not exist, skip 06/02/28 04:00 65,536 jgsh400.dll 06/02/28 04:00 35,840 jgmd400.dll 06/02/28 04:00 45,568 jgsd400.dll 06/02/28 04:00 44,544 jgaw400.dll 08/04/14 04:41 27,648 jgpl400.dll 08/04/14 04:41 163,840 jgdw400.dll 7 File(s) 492,544 bytes 0 Dir(s) 15,278,301,184 bytes freeSo, on windows XP or whatever, where AOLPress is installed and running:
- Copy the AOLPress folder to the same folder on your Windows 7 PC.
- Also copy the above listed files from the windows\system32 folder on the old PC to the AOLPress folder on the Windows 7 PC
Runs under WINE in Ubuntu 16 and 18 (probably 20). Just extract the .ZIP to a folder under /home/User/.wine/drive_c. I used Progs/AOLpress/. Or download and run the installer for the earlier version. Then download and extract the jg*4??.dll files into the same folder. To run the program, navigate to it's folder in the file manager and double click the AOLpress.exe file. Or from terminal, use wine AOLpress.exe (again, from the installed folder)
