The single largest challenge with the use of any sensor is conditioning the signal derived from it. Almost no sensor will produce a perfect, linear, scaled output in response to stimulii over all ranges of operation. Signal conditioners must compensate for non-linearity, offset, and the effects of temperature, voltage or other variations in the operating environment.
