Hi Piclisters,
Sorry to post this OT query, but I did not find my info on the web, and I
hope some  Asian Piclisters are reading this and can help me.
I got some used Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS)  built in Taiwan, and
want to use them to power some projects.
These SMPS, from Asian Power Devices use an 8 pins DIP controller which
reference is KA3843C.
My questions:
- Who is the producer of this KA3843C ?
- Where can I find a cross reference list and/or producer list of asian
semiconductors?
- Is there any Search Engine, in English, more focused on Asian Market than
Altavista or Lycos ?

Hello Gerard,

this sound to me like a similar part by signetics, called SG3843, there is a
complete family of SMPS controllers. KA is the usual Prefix for a Samsung
device, so you could try out your luck on their site, too. I don't know the
site of Signetics as of now (after several takeovers), but looking for the
"forefather" SG3524 will lead you to the site, I believe, and the sites of
other manufacturers.

This IC seems to be a common type, at least to me.

Best regards

I think KA is usually Samsung. This part number sounds like it may be
equivalent to the UCxxxx  series of PWM devices made by people like
SGS-Thomson and several others

Try a search for '3843' on http://www.findchips.com

http://www.google.com is usually a lot better than the above search engines.

Also, try Unitrode (now TI) who have a UC3843.
