i'm looking for a tool, allowing me to save a single web page to the harddisk. the tool should be command line controlled like: TOOLNAME <web address> <[optional parameters]> it should be able to save everything, which is shown when calling this address from internet explorer, either in a html or a graphic file. the problem is, if you open a page with dynamic content like a map, and you save the page in internet explorer, you only get the frame saved, but the content (the map) is not available offline. fact is, i'm only interrested in the map, but not in the frame! any suggestion? tino *** Attachments scanned for malicious content ***

Try wget on a harmless page, such as http://www.google.com If that works, then the problem is at the source. Some web pages are encrypted for different browsers (which is stupid), but you might want to use the wget option to spoof a certain browser.

Google at least the last time I checked blocks the default wget user-agent string. Wget has the option to change this though so you can use the --user-agent argument to mimic the user-agent header of a more mainstream browser. Wget will allow you to save a page and optionally the things necessary to render the page (images, stylesheets) but it will not save the whole page including the extra stuff into one file. There is a standard to do this called MHTML. Internet Explorer supports this format and it's pretty easy to follow and well documented so you can generate the MHTML files yourself from scripts. {Original Message removed}

I wanted to build up a map (of aerial photos) of a town I used to live in, and found that the map pieces wouldn't save with the page, so took to capturing it with a graphic utility, then pasting the bits together later Some map web pages have screen capture turned off. I found a way to turn it back on at the time but don't recall what that was Unless you're wanting the script saved too ?
