Since mail is a factor, and the piclist is global, a hint of where you are
would be a good idea. Plenty of people have programmers, me included.

worded ad a bit wrong
should be pic compiling, need to have pic code written to change address in
eprom when connected via test clip
(power supplied form circuit)
already have decent programmer, just cannot learn the ins and outs of
compiling.

I have many 12c509s I could program for you. I'm located in Michigan, and would
charge $15 to program three of them and ship them to you (in the 48 continental
US states, higher if elsewhere). Just assure me that you either own the
copyright to the code, or have obtained permission from the copyright holder to
use the code.
The 509 has more code space than the 508, so your program should work the same
in it.

Yes
The code is nothing to do with cablebox chipping
It is to do with my current trade of upgrading UK dvd players to
multiregion. Am alreadying editing the eproms manually but have seen a nice
device that uses a pic to do it with. Would be nice to get my own made

Unless I have the wrong impression, that is as illegal as cablebox
chipping! TTYL

I think you have the wrong impression....
Are you trying to say that if I own a DVD player I am not legally
allowed to modify it...? What planet are you on ?

Earth last I checked. In NA, yes, it is illegal to modify a DVD player
to play DVDs from outside the region it is built for (it's the same as
modifying a radio scanner to pick up cell phones calls in the US, that is
also considered illegal). You can thank the MPAA for that one. Of course
it's like MP3s, nobody is going to arrest every person who has downloaded an
MP3 (I'd guess that would approach a large percentage of NAs population
anyways!). While an individual may be able to get away with it, a company
doing it for profit is most definitely breaking the law. Why do you think
big companies don't advertise being able to do it here in NA? Now I have
been emailed by the original poster that this modify for hire business is
legal in the UK where he is located, there is no way for me to confirm that
though. TTYL

Multi region dvd players are available in the uk without modification,
therefore how can this be illegal?

Please use [AD]: or [BUY]: when discussing the sale or purchase of produces
or services.
[PIC]: is for * technical * information.
Also, not that this is true in every case, but often when someone is asking
for the service of patching a value in the program memory of a device in low
volumes and wants to pay cash, it is for the purpose of illegally modifying
a commercial product (cable box, cell, phone, etc...). Please be aware that
the law does not accept "I just did what the customer asked for" as an
acceptable defense.
Its always good to help out, but look at what your doing first.
