'[PICLIST] [PIC] just for the sake of it'

Hi all,

Boy what a drama.

I paid the penalty for trying to accomplish too many things at once.

Write the I2C code which had to contend with RAM paged buffers and
talking to the PC for data transfer.

Stupid mistake, but you live and learn.

I lost count of the hairs I pulled out, so "Barry Gershenfeld" in saying
the meaning of the universe - 42 - gets a ROMzap board.

I trashed the software I wrote, made a cuppa, picked up my hairs to keep
the missus happy, pulled the young fella and his crayons out of my paper
work, and wrote some simple SDA and SCL macros for easy readabillity and
rewrote the I2C code.

It took 6 goes to get the read/write going and then I ran it through the
buffer/PC stuff and can now transfer 64K bytes to/from the PC to two of
the EEPROMs.

Whew!

"Severson, Rob" gets another PCB for guessing 6.

Please provide an address so I can send them out :-)

Hi Tony, you will recall that I made the "very first" guesses,
which were 34 for newly-minted code, and 7 for boot-strapped
from existing. Many others poo-poo-ed my numbers as lamely
high. All these other later whup-starts what won just used
mine as a reference point for their guesses. I don't get a pcb
[don't worry, I'm not after one], but I figure I know my spot
in the universe.

best regards,
- Dan Michaels

I think the list all officially decided (without talking to each other) that no
one could submit two numbers, so we averaged your two, and that number wasn't
close to either of the actual results.  ;-)

You guys decided that "after" I had already submitted. Slick.

Dan's right and if he hadn't posted such a high figure I don't
think I'd have had to courage to post such an "embarrasingly
stupid" guess :-)

So if he really, really, wants that ROMzap board I guess I'd
be willing to give it up ;-)

Hi Barry,

Nawww, I am just funning. I have plenty of PIC dev tools
already. More than I use. Plus "34" other projects in the
pipe.

cheers,
