Post by thread:Is MPLAB only usefull when using a PIC Emulator?

From looking at the manual for MPLAB, it seems to only be usefull when using a compatable emulator. I was under the impression that MPLAB was an easier to use version of MPASM and MPSIM with am much better user interface, with a built in project manager. Am I wrong? I can't afford those $800 emulators, I am hoping the simulator can tackle my debugging needs. Neil Gandler

If you cannot find the simluator, chances are you have the earlier emulator version. Jump on the web or the BBS and and grab the latest version. Jim

I'm having problems with MPLAB also. I've downloaded the latest and greatest (3.09) and tried to go through the tutorial. The first item is to create a new project. "Click on New Project, a dialog box appears," etc. Only a dialog box does not appear. I would dearly like to set up some simulations but I'm a bit stumped.
