I have tried downloading MPLAB and have followed some of the problems you people have encountered. The only apparent problem I have, is the si ze of the zipped file. Its 1.9Meg I would like to divide it up into two files so I can put them on floppies, and then install them at home. Anyone know how this could be done in Unix or suggest an alternative. Downloading it from the net at home would take forever. Does microchip offer this software of floppies, who can I call to get a copy on disks? Neil Gandler Hi; You can write a simple program in c to read the file and divide it into two pieces (just read and update a counter until you hit 1.4M, then switch output to another file). You can use BACKUP or MSBACKUP DOS utilites to span disks if those utilities are avilable to you. It's a bit of a pain to use but that's how I did it. The resulting files can then be rebuilt into the original using the DOS COPY command as someone else suggested. Not sure about TAR or COMPRESS on UNIX.
