|I think I would like to try to do this, to take a stab
at developing a database of projects, code snippets,
circuits, etc; a registry of sorts. I'm not sure that I'll
be able to do dynamic html off the database, but I might
be able to make some regularly-generated static tables
and make the database, perhaps in DBASE or CSV or some
other highly-portable format, available for download for
people who would like to mess with it. Perhaps someone
else who is better at web authoring than myself could do
something creative with the raw data that gets assembled.
As I mentioned, I could probably provide some space for
some otherwise-homeless project files as well, but I don't
have a structure set up for that now. Thus, if Alan can
make a convenient place for them right away, that may be
a better option.
I'll be working on a database schema over the next few
days, so if y'all have any ideas, please let me know. I
expect that, to make it a useful database, there'll
have to be some standards and limits on the structure
and organization of the data. Since there are so many
projects out there, I'll probably publish a form that can
be filled out to register an item. I will undoubtedly be
able to make a start at it by going through the links on
various existing sites, but there will ineveitably be a
lot of holes to start.
Please don't send me any data just yet, since I don't have
the schema ready I don't yet know what information I'll
need. But thoughts, ideas and suggestions are all helpful
right away. Please keep in mind, however, that it probably
won't be possible to implement all ideas and suggestions,
I'll have to make some choices and decisions.
Thanks for any help y'all can provide...
