Hewlett Packard Laser Jet 5 or 5M Printer

The HP 5, 5P, 5Si and 6P series printers (or their corresponding M versions) each require a specific version of the SmartSIMM.  Please specify printer model when ordering.

SmartSIMMs which can be programmed in the LaserJet 5 or 5M now are available; however, LaserJet 4-series SmartSIMMs programmed in the LaserJet 4 series printers also can be installed in the 5 or 5M and the data on the SIMM can be used (read) to print while in the 5 or 5M.  The new firmware version that supports reading and programming of data in the 5 was made available in early May, 1997 and is incorporated in all SIMMs sold specifically for the 5.

The HP Forms and Fonts Manager supports a different type of Flash SIMM when set to work with a LaserJet 5. Again, the LaserJet 5 FLASH setting in the HP Forms and Fonts Manager is not for a smart SIMM. If you need to program forms or fonts into a SmartSIMM in the LaserJet 5, use Transform's File / Print / RAM-FLASH-DISK / Admin option, not HP Forms and Font Manager

Number: 640 01/07/98 Areas of a form that are designed to print in a grey shade print black instead.
