A Gait Co-Processor for the HexCrawler Robot. Uses one SX48 to manage all 6 legs times 2 joints per leg or 24 servos with one chip!
Second Place ($750.00) - Logic Analyzer by Philip Pemberton
Made from an LCD out of a Nokia 3310 mobile phone, some SRAM chips, etc... controlled by an SX 28.
Captures 256, 8 bit samples at up to 3.75Mhz (if I read the source code correctly)
Third Place ($500.00) - Airplane Autopilot by Jens Altenburg
Build a UAV! Written in ByteCraft SX/C. Uses the difference in temperature between the sky and the ground to find the horizon and stabilize the aircraft. Brilliant
Honorable Mention ($250.00) - SX Video Module by Terry Hitt
16x6 character or 32x12 block graphics, bit banged video and 4800baud serial written in SX/B. And all that using just a single SX 28 and some resistors (and some really clever code)

Robot balances things on a pole it holds from the bottom.

Ashley Roll has put together a really nice little unit here. Leave off the MAX232 and keep these handy for the few times you need true RS232!

Robotics nuts!

Check out http://www.verinet.com/~dlc/ email: dlc@verinet.com... This guy ROCKS! He has made (and sells but also releases code, docs, etc...) for a number of cool little robotic modules including whiskers, IR proximity detect and remote control, Sonar proximity detect, PWM, Servo, compass. Most of these use the little PIC 12C508 controller which costs basically nothing and is soooo tiny.
The 4 servos, 2400 baud serial servo controller is a wonder of magic and he sells the programmed chip for $8. Wow!
